Briefly.

As if Friday’s weren’t good enough. The Sox, down 4-0, put a 15-spot on the yankees last night! Oh, happy days.

Trivia #1: Who was Josip Nikolai Peruzovic?

Trivia #2: Who was the first Dominican-born MLB player to reach 3000 hits?

It’s not the heat, it’s the humidity!

I don’t care the sport, hall of fame inductions are worth the watch!

Most things that you eat with a fork you can get away with eating with a spoon, if you have to. A salad is not one of them.

I came across the Tour de France over the weekend. The crowds along the route are incredible, as is the coverage. It has to be one of the most popular sporting events in the world.

Role player, maybe? But I like Eric Decker. Go Pats!

You can’t say enough about a good, honest, reliable mechanic.

Did you hear (about) the Philly fans chanting E-A-G-L-E-S at Fenway during the Sox series earlier this week? I read a Philly sports writer who wrote “never, ever, change, Eagles fans.” Never change Eagles fans? Boston fans would have done the same given the situation. Philly fans got nothing on us!

When something barely hits you, you get “nick’d.” Why Nick’d. Why don’t you get Paul’d, or Steve’d?

This week’s sign of the apocalypse: Headline Wednesday morning: “Between the starters and substitutes, the Nationals offense accounted for 243 Draft Kings fantasy points.”

Scum: Two people were arrested Sunday in Redding, CA on suspicion of looting homes that had been evacuated earlier due to an explosive wildfire.

Hats off to Rick “Nifty” Middleton, having his number (16) retired by the Bruins. If not for injuries, he’d be in the NHL Hall of Fame. I’ll throw in a trivia question here. Who did the Bruins trade to land Rick Middleton in 1975?

Disturbing trend. It’s the middle of summer and some stores are out of stock of some back-to-school supplies, such as bulletproof backpacks and bulletproof inserts for backpacks. A campus in Oklahoma has installed bulletproof shelters for students and teachers, just in case.

Chiyo Miyako was awarded a Guinness World Record shortly before her death for being the oldest person alive. She was 117. Me, I set my own personal record this morning for consecutive days alive…

Quote/Line of the week: I’m assuming you’ve heard of, or been to, Three Dollar Dewey’s in Portland, ME. “$1 Lookie; $2 Feelie; $3 Dewey”

Trivia #1 answer: Who was Josip Nikolai Peruzovic? – WWE Hall of Famer Nikolai Volkoff. He died on Monday at the age of 70. Though he played a villainous Russian, he was Croatian and Yugoslavian.

Trivia #2 answer: Who was the first Dominican-born player to reach 3000 hits? – Adrian Beltre (just last July)

Throw-in trivia answer: The Bruins traded Ken Hodge to the NY Rangers for Rick Middleton.

“And if you listen very hard
The truth will come to you at last.
When all are one and one is all
To be a rock and not a roll.”

Briefly.

Last week few read my post. No email. So what?! Either register or just go check the site from time to time. (sorry for those who missed it)

What’s more frustrating? That Jackie Bradley Jr. had the count at 3-0 with the bases loaded in the 9th inning of last night’s 2-1 loss to the Twinkies, or that available pinch-hitter Mitch Moreland was sitting on the bench having been 6 for 10 with 2 walks against reliever Fernando Rodney?

Yesterday was the anniversary of Nolan Ryan’s 100th strikeout for the 23rd consecutive season. What!?

Trivia #1: Who is the longest tenured member of the Celtics?

Trivia #2: Who is Forrest Richards Betts?

Trivia #3: Newly acquired Red Sox pitcher Nathan Eovaldi is from Alvin, Texas. What other former big leaguer is from the same town?

Trivia #4: What the heck. I dug this up this morning. Who are the only three active NBA players heading into this season who played in the 1990’s?

I joked a couple of weeks ago that the World Cup was starting soon, I thought?? I am not joking now when I found out the Tour de France just ended stage 17. Seventeen! I managed to miss any sort of news on the first 16 stages. Incredible. (that’s a bike race, right?)

New York Mets pitcher Noah Syndergaard has been placed on the disabled list after contracting hand-foot-and-mouth disease. Officials said Syndergaard likely contracted the disease, which is much more prominent amongst children, when he made an appearance at a kids’ baseball camp last Thursday.

You can’t lick any part of your reflection except for your tongue.

Having sex, you’re doing it wrong. Kahali Johnson found his wife, Tameka Hargrave, 39, and her 56-year-old mechanic dead in a parking garage outside his apartment in Newark. Hargrave was paying for work done on her vehicle by having sex with the mechanic. The cause of death was alleged to have been carbon monoxide poisoning. Editor’s note: She was paying for work done on her car. I bet the husband knew and was just trying to save a few bucks.

NFL teams began training camps yesterday and today. You know what that means?! My fantasy football league draft is in 6 weeks!

Trivia #3 hint: He also threw hard, like Eovaldi.

So the Comeaus go to Greece and the place nearly burns to the ground? Seriously though, what a tragedy. Flames burned out of control near Athens as people were forced to flee to the ocean to survive. Many didn’t make with some as close to 50 feet from the sea were charred.

Haverhill’s Noah Vonleh has signed with the Knicks. This may be his last chance.

Here is your Tim Tebow update and maybe the last one. Any long-shot chance Mets prospect Tim Tebow had to play in the major leagues this season has likely been dashed after he broke the hamate bone in his right hand swinging a bat during a minor league game. “Good cut!”

Speaking of baseball, St. Louis Cardinal David Poncedeleon, 26, was struck in the right temple by a line drive on May 9, 2017 while pitching for Triple-A Memphis. He suffered a fractured skull, which caused bleeding in the brain and required emergency surgery. Segway to this past Monday night when he made his major league debut and threw 7 no-hit innings. He had been battling a sore neck and was removed after 116 pitches. Great night, right? Well, mostly. His teammates blew his one-run lead and lost on a walk-off. DOH!

Quote of the week: “Don’t knock the weather; nine-tenths of the people couldn’t start a conversation if it didn’t change once in a while.” – Kin Hubbard

Trivia #1 answer: Who is the longest tenured player for the Celtics? – Marcus Smart

Trivia #2 answer: Who is Forrest Richards Betts? – Not Mookie, but Dickey Betts of the Allman Brothers

Trivia #3 answer: Newly acquired Red Sox pitcher Nathan Eovaldi is from Alvin, Texas. What other big leaguer is from the same town? – Nolan Ryan

Trivia #4 answer: Who are the only three active NBA players heading into this season who played in the 1990’s? – Dirk Nowitzki, Vince Carter and Jason Terry.

“Nobody gonna take my car
I’m gonna race it to the ground
Nobody gonna beat my car
it’s gonna break the speed of sound
Oooh it’s a killing machine
It’s got everything
Like a driving power big fat tires
and everything”

Briefly. (what do you expect, I’m on vacation)

The coldest temperature ever recorded was negative 138.5 degrees Farenheit in Antarctica, August,  2010.

Trivia #1: Nick Markakis set what MLB record this year by being named to the Midsummer Classic (All Star Game)?

There’s so much to be said for slowing life down every once in a while or, forgetting about it entirely.

Jose Canseco has signed with World Class Revolution Pro Wrestling.

I love how they look out for you in the White Mountains of NH. Signs along the road; “Brake for Moose.  It could save your life.” Do you know how big a moose is? Let me tell you something. If there’s a moose standing in the middle of the road, I don’t need anyone telling me to hit the brakes!

JD Martinez has 53 opposite field home runs since 2015. That’s 18 more than 2nd place Joey Votto.

Saw an add for “world’s easiest wine opener.” Really, unless you’re 90, does it matter?

Trivia answer: Nick Markakis ended the longest wait in being named to his first All-Star game, 1,928 games.

“You’ve got a smile so bright, you know you could have been a candle

I holding you so tight,  you know you could have been a handle

The way you swept me off my feet, you know you could have been a broom

The way you smell so sweet ,you know you could have been perfume”

Briefly.

I’m on vaca. You may not hear from me next Friday. Hopefully, someone hears from me…

Trivia #1: Last week – what MLB single-season record did Jim Rice set in 1984? Answer: He hit into 36 double plays. This week – Who hit into the most double plays in his career?

Trivia #2 (sticking with baseball – tis the season): What 5 pitchers have thrown an immaculate inning (9 pitches, 9 strikes, 3 strike outs) more than once in their career?

I heard Tim Neveritt’s (sp?) call on the radio last night of Mookie’s grand slam. In case you missed it, 4th inning, 13-pitch at-bat. I have to say it was the greatest, non-playoff, non-game-winning home run call I have ever heard.

About 24 percent of adults last year said they exercise enough each week, up from 21 percent in 2015. Also, a government study finds that adult obesity is inching upwards. What does this mean? I’m not sure but it sounds to me as though some adults believe that eating a burger is exercise.

Get this, through 335 at-bats this season JD Martinez was hitting .331 with 111 hits, 28 homers, 21 doubles, 50 extra base hits 87 strikeouts and 77 RBIs. Through 335 at-bats in his Red Sox debut season, Manny Ramirez was .331 with 111 hits, 27 homers, 21 doubles, 50 extra base hits, 88 strikeouts and 85 RBIs. Really

I’m not certain but I think the World Cup is starting soon.

Honeymooning, you’re doing it wrong. An Israeli man, Egael Tishman, 24, and his newlywed wife, Shif Fanken decided to go ziplining in Honduras where they had stopped while on their honeymoon cruise. Fanken got stuck about halfway through and her husband crashed into her. Both were taken to a hospital with multiple, serious injuries but Tishman eventually died.

Trivia #1 hint: He is still playing.

“Tie goes to the runner.” Isn’t that what we were taught growing up? Well, apparently not. Sunday night during the Angels/Dodgers game, there was a clear tie at first base. Everyone saw it, everyone said it. However, because the runner was called “out” by the umpire, there wasn’t enough evidence to overturn the call. Tie goes to whoever the ump says.

“Tie goes to the runner.” That’s right up there with “God knows!”

Trivia #2 hint: One did it three times, the others twice. One did it once in the AL and once in the NL.

What color is a mirror? (don’t say “clear” because clear is not a color)

Speaking of Sunday Night Baseball, A-Fraud was interviewing Mike Trout the other night. Mike Trout, the guy who is very well one of the greatest players ever at his young age. By the time the interview was over, A-Hole was giving Trout hitting tips. What an arrogant $%^&!

If you toast a cold sub is it still a cold sub?

Trivia #1 answer: Who hit into the most double plays in his career? Albert Pujols

Trivia #2 answer: What 5 pitchers have thrown an immaculate inning (9 pitches, 9 strikes, 3 strike outs) more than once in their career? Sandy Koufax (3), Left Grove, Nolan Ryan (AL & NL), Randy Johnson, Max Scherzer

The song/tune below is one that could stay in your head pretty much the entire weekend. If you don’t know it, look it up. (remember, google.com is the best web site for googling things)

“Made the scene
Week to week
Day to day
Hour to hour
The gate is straight
Deep and wide
Break on through to the other side”

Trivia: What MLB single-season record did Jim Rice set in 1984?

A 16-year old Florida boy died Thursday in a fireworks accident when the large “mortar” he tried to fire blew up in his hand. Damn. Every year…

Roberto Martin Antonio Bonilla. This past Sunday, July 1, was Bobby Bonilla Day. Bonilla hasn’t played baseball since 2001 but every July 1st collects a check for $1,193,248.20 from the New York Mets. Payments are due through 2035. In 2000, the Mets needed to free up some cash and chose to pay Bonilla $29.8 million in deferred payments, starting in 2011, instead of the $5.9 million they owed him at the time.

You know those convicts out on the side of the freeway picking up trash? Have you ever seen a female?

Because you asked… Tim Tebow is batting .266 (.329 since June 1st) with the Binghamton Rumble Ponies. After Tebow plays in the Eastern League All-Star Game next week, speculation is he’ll be promoted to Triple-A. He turns 31 next month.

What a tragedy regarding the Thai soccer team that has been trapped in a cave since June 23. What I am having trouble with are the different, conflicting stories coming out. Still, I hope they make it.

On August 16 the Pawtucket Red Sox will play as the Pawtucket Hot Wieners as part of a special promotion at McCoy Stadium. To commemorate the one-night name change, the PawSox will wear a cap and jersey featuring the Hot Wiener logo. A hot wiener is a staple of the food culture in Rhode Island and is made with a small, thin hot dog consisting of veal and pork, giving it a different taste than a traditional beef dog. It is served in a steamed bun and topped with yellow mustard, celery salt, chopped onions and a seasoned meat sauce. (there we go again with the celery salt)

I can’t say I ever recall such a stretch of wicked #$%^ing hot weather. And BTW, for those of you who complain because your grass is burnt, it isn’t. Grass doesn’t burn, it dies.

LeBron to the Lakers. As if I needed another reason to hate him.

Rondo to the Lakers. As if I needed another reason to hate the Lakers.

I don’t know whether the rest of you working slobs agree with me but I like the Wednesday holiday. You get through Monday and the next day is technically Friday. A day off, Thursday and the next day is Friday again. Not bad. Not to mention, several people who piss me off on a regular basis are out on vacation this week.

BTW, no one asked about Tim Tebow.

Trivia answer: What MLB single-season record did Jim Rice set in 1984? He hit into 36 double plays.

“If everybody had an ocean
Across the U.S.A.
Then everybody’d be surfin’
Like Californi-a
You’d see them wearing their baggies
Huarache sandals too
A bushy bushy blonde hairdo
Surfin’ U.S.A.”

Briefly.

I forgot my phone at home today. It’s a beautiful day!

Trivia #1: What is Wolof?

Trivia #2: Name the three MLB pitchers with 20-win seasons in three different decades.

On June 21st, MLB celebrated the 113thMidnight Sun Game by organizing an unprecedented 24 hours of “Play Ball” events around this year’s game in Fairbanks, Alaska. Throughout the 24-hour period of daylight during the summer solstice, MLB and its partners – the American Legion, PONY Baseball and Softball, USA Baseball and USA Softball – hosted a number of baseball and softball activities for both adults and kids. The Midnight Sun Game was between two collegiate summer baseball teams, the Alaska Goldpanners and the Orange County Surf at Fairbank’s Growden Park. The game, first played in 1906, started at 10pm and used no artificial light.

If you have the perfect sandwich, you add bacon to it. Arbys, we have the meats!

Sox/Yankees, again. This is the first time since 1978 that the Sox/Yanks have met and had the best and second-best record in baseball. The two have never met this late in the season when both teams have had a winning percentage of better than .650. This is the first year since 1901 that the two best teams in baseball have been led by first-year managers. Rafael Devers and the yankees’ Gelber Torres, both 21, are regular starts for their teams. The last time the two teams met with two 21-year old starters was 1970 (Ken Brett, Sox and Johnny Ellis, Yankees). Bring it on!

Xander Bogaerts leads all of baseball with 280 2-strike hits since the 2015 season.

Tom Brady was voted, by his peers, the best player in the NFL for the second consecutive year. That to me, by his peers, is the highest honor.

There are a lot of good apps out there but the garlic bread with side of marinara at Butch’s Uptown is becoming one of my favorites.

The Anaheim Angels’ Shohei Oshanti, phenom from Japan who can hit/pitch like The Babe, has a bad elbow. I hope he gets healthy.

John Daly will not play in a tournament run by the USGA after the organization denied his request for use of a golf cart in the U.S. Senior Open. The 52-year old Daly next plans to play (and use a golf cart) at the Greenbrier Classic, a PGA tour event, beginning July 5, provided his knee is OK. He injured it last April when his RV was hit by a car in a Hooters parking lot. Go figure.

The PawSox’ Rusney Castillo, remember him? He was named to the International League All-Star team. The problem is we may never see him back with the big league team due to his annual salary of $10.38 million salary, which would have huge implications on taxes, their 2019 draft pick and overall financial flexibility.

Researchers at Northwestern University, Chicago, and Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, have developed a small-molecule drug that can stop the movement of cancer cells and so prevent their spread to other areas of the body. Early tests in mouse models of different human cancers showed that the orally administered compound KBU2046 inhibited metastasis, reduced bone destruction, prolonged survival, without any evident toxicity.

What is a hotdog without celery salt?

Trivia #1 answer: What is Wolof? Wolof is a language of Senegal, the Gambia and Mauritania, and the native language of Wolof people. The official language of Senegal is French though about 40% (approximately 5 million people) of Senegal’s population speak Wolof as their native language.

Trivia #2: Name the three MLB pitchers with 20-win seasons in three different decades. – Bob Feller, Warren Spahn and Roger Clemens

“Touch me
Take me to that other place
Reach me
I know I’m not a hopeless case

It’s a beautiful day”

Briefly.

Cal Ripken Jr. played 21 seasons and 3,001 games with the Baltimore Orioles. He struck out 1,305 times (once every 2.3 games). Chris Davis has played “almost” 9 seasons with Baltimore and as of last Saturday has played in 1,018 games. He has struck out 1,351 times (1.3 times per game).

Trivia #1: Hanley Ramirez once made a 7thinning throwing error resulting in the only batter from the opposing team to reach base. Who’s perfect game did he ruin?

Trivia #2: The no-hitter that the pitcher above threw came just 24 days after his teammate had thrown a no-hitter. Who was the other pitcher?

Back to last weekend’s US Open. In the 2017 US Open there were 90 rounds played under par in the first two rounds. This year, 18. 4 of the top 10 players in the world missed the cut. It was the first ever PGA tournament where Spieth, Tiger and McIlroy all missed the cut.

Useless information, supposed to fire my imagination: Alex Rodriguez Reveals ‘All A-Rod Team,’ With Notable Red Sox Omission

The Bruins open next season at Washington where they will watch the Caps raise their championship banner. What a kick in the balls.

Mookie Betts, it’s time to shave. Your beard is in patches and it looks like one of Paul Pierce’s best efforts. Hit the ball, shave the beard.

An inexpensive, generic drug used around the world to prevent tuberculosis can also reverse type 1 diabetes, long-term, says a study by MGH. Big news!

In case you missed it, with two outs in Tuesday’s Sox/Twinkies games, Jackie Bradley Jr. threw out a runner at the plate on a fly ball to end the 8th inning? Why the mention? Stat Cast reported he threw the ball 290 ft in the air at 103.4 MPH! Like I wish Marcus Smart could shoot, I wish JBJ could hit.

The Celtics last night drafted Robert Williams of Texas A&M with the 27th overall pick. Williams, a sophomore, led the SEC in rebounding last year and is known for his defense and getting up and down the floor. On the offensive side, no pun intended, he didn’t hit a single three-point shot and shot 47.1 from the free throw line.

Quote of the week: “What right isn’t always popular and what’s popular isn’t always right.” – Unknown

Trivia #1 answer: Hanley Ramirez once made a 7th inning throwing error resulting in the only batter from the opposing team to reach base. Who’s perfect game did he ruin? – Clayton Kershaw

Trivia #2 answer : The no-hitter that the pitcher above threw came just 24 days after his teammate had thrown a no-hitter. Who was the other pitcher? – John Beckett

“The sun ain’t nearly on the rise
And we still got the moon and stars above.
Underneath the velvet skies,
Love is all that matters. Won’t you stay with me?
And don’t you ever leave.”

Briefly.

Last week was missed due to The Penta. Here’s to Charlie!

Let’s get back on it. Multi-trivia day!

Trivia #1: Of all the Red Sox’ team batting leaders, who finished the season with the lowest batting average?

Trivia #2: What number did Charlie Penta wear for HHS Hillies’ football?

Trivia #3: On Tuesday, the Red Sox’ Rafael Devers hit his 10th home run of the season and 20th of his career becoming just the third player in franchise history to hit 20 home runs before his 22nd birthday. Name the other two.

Trivia #4: What team has hit the most consecutive solo home runs? Bonus: how many?

Yankees “slugger” Aaron Judge set a major league record and struck 8 times in 9 at-bats, during last Monday’s doubleheader against the Tigers. He struck out in all 5 of his at-bats in the nightcap, including one with a runner on board in the ninth inning of a 4-2 loss.

You know you’re getting older when everyone you meet reminds you of someone else.

Carson Smith. What a waste. I love the guy’s stuff but he just can’t stay healthy. You may recall he threw his glove recently after a lousy inning. Out for the year with shoulder surgery. What a dope! What a waste.

Trivia #1 hint: The season was 1992

This will be my last hockey rant until next season. The whole 3-star thing. Sorry puckheads, but what a joke. For those not in the know, at the end of each NHL game three players are “awarded” the one, two and three star players of the game. Spare me. Imagine in the NFL say an offensive lineman getting the #2 star player of the game? Ya, he wouldn’t even come out of the locker room.

This week’s sign of the apocalypse: According to a survey conducted by market research firm Mintel, nearly 30 percent of younger millennials (aged 24 to 31) reported that they prefer drinking at home because going out takes “too much effort.”

Quote of the week: “Character is much easier kept than recovered.” – Thomas Paine

I would much rather watch a US Open like this one at Shinnecock Hills where guys are routinely missing 3-foot putts, over a course where they routinely drain 20-foot putts.

Some of the best names from the 2018 MLB draft: Ford Proctor, Travis Swaggerty, Kumar Rocker, Greyson Jenista, Matt Barefoot and Seth Beer.

R.I.P. Dwight Clark (61), from ALS. “The Catch.” ‘Nuf said.

Trivia #1 answer: Of all the Red Sox’ team batting leaders, who finished the season with the lowest batting average? Tom Brunansky batted .266 in 1992.

Trivia #2 answer: What number did Charlie Penta wear for HHS Hillies’ football? – 45

Trivia #3 answer: On Tuesday, the Red Sox’ Rafael Devers hit his 10th home run of the season and 20th of his career becoming just the third player in franchise history to hit 20 home runs before his 22nd birthday. Name the other two. – Ted Williams and Tony Conigliaro

Trivia #4: What team has hit the most consecutive solo home runs? – The San Francisco Giants hit 21 consecutive solo home runs in 2011.

“Just remember love is life
And hate is living death
Treat your life for what it’s worth
And live every breath”

I skipped a week so two tunes:

“Now go out and get yourself some thick black frames
With the glass so dark they won’t even know your name
And the choice is up to you cause they come in two classes
Rhinestone shades or cheap sunglasses”

Trivia #1: Who was the first player in NHL history to play 50 (or more) playoff games with three different teams? Wayne Gretzky, Bill Guerin, Claude Lemieux, Mark Messier, Gary Doak

Trivia #2: Who was the first NBA player to win two NBA Finals MVP awards? Bill Russell, Willis Reed, Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Bob Cousy

Say what you about the Celtics season. They exceeded expectations. They are so young and have a great future. Wait until Kyrie and Hayward are healthy. Blah, blah, blah. They blew an opportunity! Up 3-2 in the Eastern Conference Finals. Up in the 4th quarter of game 7. I can’t wait until next season too, but they blew it.

In 1994, Boston Duck Tours was a 15-employee business that carried 600 passengers in four duck boats in its first year of operation. Since then, the company has grown into a 200-employee business that last year transported over a half-million passengers around Boston in their Word War II replica amphibious vehicles.

Yale won the NCAA Division 1 men’s lacrosse championship. In a related story, San Diego State is the #3 seed in the Corvallis Region of the NCAA Baseball Tournament.

Stop complaining about your everyday aches and pains. Get this, a man complaining of severe abdominal pain ended up going through 2 ½ hours of surgery to remove 4,100 gallstones.

So how was the game? Rudy Giuliani, longtime Yankees fan, was in attendance at Yankee Stadium last Monday with his son when the announcer wished him a happy birthday (74) over the loudspeaker. Not only did the crowd boo him, the Yankees lost the game 5-1.

Yankees suck!

I am so not following anything Patriots right now. Nothing, really.

From my Aunt: If you had to choose between drinking wine every day or being skinny, which would you choose? Red or white?

LeBron has now played in 1,379 games, regular season and playoffs. Last night was the first time one of his teams was an underdog of more than 12 points (-13.5). BTW, they covered.

Some people are pretty excited about this weekend’s Sox/Astros series. It’s early June. I get it but it’s early June.

Quote of the week: From former Fox and NBC exec Preston Beckman regarding Roseanne Barr; “She’s a pimple on the tushy of  The Walt Disney Co., and they lanced it.”

The Houston Rockets missed 27 straight three-pointers in their game 7 loss to Golden State. You might say the shots were “rockets!”

Trivia #1: Who was the first player to play 50 (or more) playoff games with three different teams? – Claude Lemieux

Trivia #2: Who was the first NBA player to win two NBA Finals MVP awards? – Willis Reed

Au Revoir, Go-pher!

“Fill me heart with song
And let me sing for ever more
You are all I long for
All I worship and adore”

BTW, off next Friday for The Penta (23rd). Hope to see you there.

Briefly.

Trivia #1: Who holds the MLB record for having pitched in 50 different stadiums?

Trivia #2: What team played the fewest playoff games en route to the Stanley Cup championship?

Wow! Both the Cavs and Warriors down 3-2. Both need to win two, the last one being on the road.

Next I will either be commenting on how the Celtics blew it or, how they can beat the Rockets/Warriors.

The Tampa Bay Devil Rays’ rookie phenom Willy Adames made his major league debut this past Tuesday night against the Red Sox and Chris Sale. Sales struck him out the first time but he homered in his second at bat. I can’t say I’ve seen a happier kid round the bases. Good for him! Of note: Sale struck him out on three pitches his next time up.

If the Red Sox’ Rafael Devers was on their Triple-A affiliate Pawtucket Red Sox, he would be the youngest player on their active roster. If the Red Sox’ Rafael Devers was on their Double-A affiliate Portland Sea Dogs, he would be the youngest player on their active roster. He hit his 9th homerun with the big boys earlier in the week.

Trivia #1 hint: He was inducted into the HOF in 2015.

Too bad NFL Eastern Conference Final game 7 the other night, Tampa/Washington, was up against the Sox and the Celtics. The game was certainly 3rd on my dial. Sorry Spike/Arch.

LeBron was waiting at the scorers’ table for a whistle so he could check into the game the other night, Game 5 at the Garden. Where was he? No, not sitting on the floor in front of the scorers’ table, out of the view of media and fans. Instead he was sitting on the scorers’ table not caring whose view he was blocking. You could see people trying to see around him. What a dink.

A New Zealand scientist is leading a team to Scotland’s Loch Ness next month where they will search for the DNA of “Nessie”, the Loch Ness monster. Hmmm. How will they know if they find it??

James Harden is 0 for his last 20 three-point attempts.

Unless information, supposed to fire my imagination: “How the AL, NL Cy Young races are shaping up.” – Dude, it’s May.

Who do you like in the big race on Sunday? I’m not sure whether Jefferson Welch is running but watch out for sleeper Alex Wilson.

You know that person that can never give you a straight answer to your question? They reply with information but do not answer the specific question that was asked. Ya, I work with one of them.

Trivia #1 hint #2: He holds the MLB record for homeruns allowed.

Neal Leier, an angler from Bismarck, ND, reeled in a 15-pound, 13-ounce walleye from the Missouri River to break the state’s 60-year old record.
