Briefly.
On Tuesday, in addition to his first career stolen base, Christian Vasquez became the first Red Sox catcher to record four or more hits and a stolen base in a game since Johnny Peacock in 1938.
In a story not related, Clay Buchholz was forced from his second start after giving up six runs over just 2 1/3 innings. Buchholz, as it turns out, was once again injured, this time suffering a forearm strain. Phillie fans must be f’n bullshit.
Believe it or not, just three hundred and 18 miles away, at precisely the same time, the player Buchholz was traded for launched a three-run homer for the Salem Red Sox in Lynchburg, Virginia. You can’t make that up!
It ain’t nothing but a house party!
I don’t know about you but I can’t wait to see what the Pats do on draft day. I also can’t wait to see just how exactly Cleveland will “F” it up.
The Celtics clinched the East! Wow! That is quite an accomplishment. Up first is the Bulls. DYK, Bulls’ guard Dwayne Wade has played more playoff minutes than the entire Celtics team combined!
GREAT win for the Bruins in game 1. If they are going to win, they have to win close games like Wednesday’s 2-1 victory. Tuukka!!!! In typical NHL scheduling WTF-ness. Game two is Saturday. In the same building!!!! Now I can see if the teams were traveling, but the second home game is three days later??
It was an epic heist and the most Canadian crime ever, to boot: Back in 2012, thieves stole 540,000 gallons of maple syrup worth at least $13 million. It was indeed serious business, and at the
heart of the strange tail is a group linked to the OPEC of the syrup world: the Federation of Quebec Maple Syrup Producers. Quebec makes 72% of the world’s maple syrup, and the federation keeps an “ironfisted” control over the precious stuff. How precious? At $1,300 a barrel, maple syrup is worth roughly 26 times more than oil. And while the federation’s policies have kept prices high, they also may have led to what the piece calls “one of the greatest agricultural crimes in all of history.” Critics liken the group not just to OPEC but, as one rogue producer puts it, to “the mafia.” The reputed ring leader was arrested late last year. And check this, while Quebec makes 74% of maple syrup, the U.S. has far more maple trees, meaning that “if the Americans ever make the push to self-sufficiency, French Canada is cooked.”
Red Sox Mitch Moreland started the season something like 0-16. He now leads the majors in doubles and has more than the entire Kansas City Royals team.
Bomb the f$%^&ers!!!
R.I.P. Dan Rooney – 84. The owner of the Steelers was one of the most respected owners in professional sports history.
R.I.P. John Warren (J) Geils Jr. – 71. DYK, the J. Geils Band was formed at WPI in Worcester by Geils, Danny Klein and “Magic Dick” Salwitz, later bringing in Peter Wolf and Stephen Jo Bladd.

My memory has just been sold
My angel is the centerfold.”
“It is difficult to say what is impossible, for the dream of yesterday is the hope of today and the reality of tomorrow.” – Robert H. Shuller
